Priorities
Steve firmly believes in leaving an organization stronger than when he arrives in every professional and volunteer leadership position. If privileged to be re-elected as the DPCA International Vice Chair, Steve has a number of priorities supportive of Martha's vision for the next two years that will benefit Democrats Abroad, its leaders, members, and U.S. citizens abroad who need to request a ballot.
Today, more than 400 pieces of legislation deemed to have some impact on restricting voter rights, are pending in 40 states*, several with elements of the S.A.V.E. Act. Steve's #1 priority will be to engage wherever required to support DA's efforts to protect UOCAVA rights for U.S. citizens abroad. These threats to voter’s rights mean DA will have to cast a wider net in 2026, and 2028, to deliver the votes we know make the difference in close elections. Key to accomplishing success in future elections requires enhancements to DA’s infrastructure that enables our invaluable work to become more accessible, meeting the voter where they are.
Steve will also:
Seek funding to:
Implement WCAG accessibility standards on democratsabroad.org & VoteFromAbroad.org
Translate VoteFromAbroad.org into the top global languages
Inspired by DA France’s example, implement a platform to increase engagement of Take Action activities by enabling citizens in CCs to call an in-country number to contact their members of Congress.
Collaborate with the DNC Tech Team, state parties, and the Global IT Team to direct abroad visitors to VFA when they visit 50 state party, DC party, and IWILLVOTE websites.
Collaborate with state parties on joint GOTV and fundraising initiatives.
Leverage his position as a Co-Chair of the ASDC Technology Committee to garner insights on emerging GOTV technology beneficial to DA.
Leverage his position as an ASDC Committee Co-Chair to place DA's voice into ASDC Executive Committee discussions, responding to a request from Int'l Chair Martha McDevitt-Pugh of ASDC President candidates to support efforts for DA and VFA to become institutionalized for all state parties.
Continue to educate DNC members on the mission of Democrats Abroad and the VoteFromAbroad.org voter registration and ballot request tool.
Champion the creation of newsletter templates for global teams and CCs to generate improved click-through rates, drive traffic to our website, and gather valuable analytics on reader behavior.
